This dark bay Westphalian gelding was my four-legged teacher. When I switched from pony to horse, "Il Professore" paved the way for me. With him I won my first medals in championships and won tests in the short tour. We even won our very first Grand Prix. In 2003 we won our first State Champion title and in the 2003/04 season we collected points in World Cup dressage tests. In spite of his 19 years, Agrigento and I proved that we still belonged to the international league in 2005 and even in 2006, we continued to win ribbons. In 2007, Agrigento retired from sport but is still top fit and now teaches our Sabine how to ride piaffe and passage.
In spite of having mellowed with age, Agrigento is still most willing to perform – even to the point of testing how well his rider can stay in the saddle – especially when he hears motors running.
My father was the one who trained Agrigento up to Grand Prix level.
